Only Two Religions — Oneism or Twoism — Where do you stand?

The work of Dr. Peter Jones at truthXchange has become highly influential on the conclusions of my current book project The Supernatural Worldview. According to Jones Romans 1:25 allows for only two religions based on the creator/creation distinction or lack their of.  In this way two options emerge oneism (all is one, pantheistic monism) and twoism (theism including a transcendent Creator).  This simplifies a great deal  and makes a great starting point in worldview analysis.  The video below is a brief introduction to the concept.

Great to see you back Cris. I could only assume you were working on a new writing project.

Truthxchange is a good starting point for talking with unbelievers, but looks like it falls short when talking with other monotheistic religions and curbing the push towards echumenical merging of beliefs.

I agree because Islam is twoism but we do not believe it to be salvific. That’s why I said it makes a great starting point in worldview analysis. It is helpful because most people do not make it past this point and the Gospel is unintelligible without a creator.

hopeful_watcher I was reading Dr Jones and he said this about Judaism and Islam:

“When I lecture, I always hear a question about Judaism and Islam, which seem to be exceptions, since they affirm a God who is “other.” Practically speaking, most Jews no longer believe in the Bible, for the god of rabbinic Judaism has become an impersonal force, driving many into forms of pagan spirituality that seek the “god” within. One might well argue that any “theistic” system that is not Trinitarian cannot have a personal God—but more on this later. Allah is a “singularity” and is unknowable—more like an impersonal force. He swears by elements within the creation, as the Quran shows.[8] If he swears by creation, can he truly stand above it as Creator of all? Jehovah will only swear by Himself (Heb 6:13).”

    Happy New Year, Cris!

Nice to have you back. I love Peter Jones — one of my favourite Future Quake interviews was with him.

    Good stuff.

    • Cris Putnam says:

Thanks Paul. I’ve been listening to his lectures that can be found via google search and I have learned a great deal.

The Bible tells us that we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of OUR testimony. I believe we demonstrate our faith best by sharing all the ways in which we have been witness to the truth that God is alive through all the many ways in which He has delivered us from trouble, and blessed our lives. We should have a continuous stream of events in which God has shown up in our behalf. If our testimony ended the day we were born again, then we haven’t been practicing our faith and calling upon God enough. I find the best way to minister is to meet the person where they are at. When they share a problem, or you see them going through a challenge, you offer your help and give a similar instance where you called upon God and His Word didn’t return void. People can dispute theology all day, but they cannot refute your testimony because it is personal. Let us use the bait of love and power to reconcile others back to our first Love!

I understand what you are saying. But we must also realise that the testimony of others can also be confirmed by demonic forces just as the Christian one is by the Holy Spirit. Ex:The Jehovah witness offer a lot of support and yet deny the deity of Christ.
Our faith comes from God and is founded in the Truth of His Word. The problem with theology is that it formulates a method of interpretation which often can be in denial of the Spirit’s revelation.
